Learning Disability/Dyslexia Testing

A learning disability means that some level of learning is significantly below your overall level of intelligence. Extended Time Evaluation Requirements/High Stakes Testing

Get advice and learn requirements for requesting extended time on high stakes standardized tests. Accommodations getting extra time are not so easy— especially for the LSAT, MCAT and Bar Exams. Years ago, I could write a letter, and extra time would be approved. Not so these days. One has to not only go through an extensive evaluation, but historical documentation is almost mandatory. This means that there has to be some indication in your young years that you had a learning disability or some kind of poor cognitive processing; otherwise the folks at LSAT will think you are not telling the truth.

 

Forensic Assessments

Preparing an assessment for legal situations is more demanding than for the usual clinical case, and must be handled differently from the beginning. In a sense, the evaluations for extended time are similar to forensic evaluations, because these assessments are examined by officials from the testing organizations with the idea in mind that you must be able to prove that you have a disability. In other forensic situations, one must take into account whether the client is malingering, or putting in the best effort during the testing sessions. Another aspect includes a thorough review of documentation.
